Project: Elkhart Farmhouse Crawlspace Foundation Replacement

The Client’s Basement Needs

This client had an old farmhouse with a partial basement and partial crawlspace. The crawlspace was very shallow, and rodents were digging in under it and through the deteriorating stone to get in.

Our Solution

We excavated down top a minimum of 42” below finished grade and removed the old shallow stone foundation and dirt. We then dug a new footing 16” wide by 8” deep with two #5 rebar continuous. Then we laid new 8” concrete block reinforced 48” on center with #5 rebar fully grouted. This gave the house a new foundation for years to come. A new foundation is necessary if more repairs are planned to protect any future investments.
